JAPANESE shipping giant NYK will join five other shipping companies – CMA-CGM, Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd, China Shipping, and USAC – to start a new service in July linking Asia and the east coast of South America in two loops.
NEX1 (New East Coast South America Express 1) and NEX2 (New East Coast South America Express 2) will deploy 23 ships between 8,000 and 10,000 TEU.
NEX1 will deploy eleven 8,000, 9,000-TEU ships starting with a July 14 westbound sailing on a 77-day round trip that will call at Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang, Sepetiba, Santos, Itapoa, Navegantes, Paranagua, Santos, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai.
NEX2 will deploy 8,000 to 10,000-TEU ships starting with a westbound sailing from Busan on an 84-day round trip rotating through Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Singapore, Port Kelang, Santos, Paranagua, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Itapoa, Santos, Port Kelang, Singapore and back to Busan.
